Michael S. Neale Award

Description

The Michael S. Neale Award is named in memory of Dr. Neale whose numerous contributions to community mental health, the profession of psychology, and Div. 18 have touched the lives of individuals with serious mental illness and a generation of practitioners, researchers, advocates, and administrators working to improve the lives of people with serious mental illness.

The Michael S. Neale Award will be presented to an individual whose commitment to serving individuals with serious mental illness is demonstrated in a body of work expressed through advocacy, research, program development, and/or service delivery.

Eligibility

The selection will be based on recognition for outstanding contributions in one or more of the following:

  • Advocating for individuals with serious mental illness through outstanding leadership efforts (i.e. serving on national committees or organizations, organizing public policy initiatives, developing new programs)
  • Promoting evidence-based practices for improving the lives of individuals with serious mental illness through education and mentorship, consultation, or research
  • Providing service delivery through active work and developing meaningful connections with consumers and/or consumer organizations to promote opportunities for rehabilitation and recovery
  • Promoting the profession of psychology to support and enhance work in community mental health and/or assertive community treatment through education, research, and/or service-delivery

How to Apply

To submit a nomination, please provide the following:

  • A letter of nomination that describes and supports the individual’s work on behalf of individuals with serious mental illness: The nomination letters should be no more than two pages long.
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Two additional letters of support

Calls for division award nomination materials are emailed via the PUBSERV membership list early spring annually. The submission due date is May 31st annually. Please submit nomination materials to president@publicservicepsych.org.
