Diversity Committee

The Diversity Committee strives to inform and guide Division 18 to challenge inequity norms, advocate for the advancement and implementation of culturally supportive best practices, and promote education on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.

The Diversity Committee recognizes diversity as delineated in the Guidelines on Multicultural Education, Training, Research, Practice and Organizational Change for Psychology put forth by APA. This definition includes recognizing the broad scope of dimensions of race, ethnicity, language, sexual orientation, gender, age, disability, class status, education, religious/spiritual orientation, and other cultural dimensions.

Mentoring/Mentorship Opportunity: Do you hold underrepresented identities, broadly defined? Are you looking for additional professional mentorship on topics like career development, manuscript development, grant writing, or navigating the field of psychology? Then consider submitting a mentorship request through PUMP (Promoting Underrepresented Minorities in Psychology)! PUMP’s mentorship framework is intended to formalize mentorship for underrepresented individuals to increase their representation in the field of psychology.

PUMP is a collaboration between multiple divisions of the American Psychological Association, including 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology), 12 (Society of Clinical Psychology), 18 (Public Service), 28 (Psychopharmacology and Substance Use), 45 (Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity and Race), and 50 (Society for Addiction Psychology).
